For almost a decade, Shawn King has been featured in top magazines from Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Teen Vogue, Essence, Maxim and The Source. He has shot ad campaigns for American Eagle, Old Navy, and Nike, and appeared in T.V. commercials for K-Swiss, Budweiser, JC Penny's, and McDonald's, just to name a few.

Represented by the industry's top agencies, Wilhelmina, Ford Models, and CESD, Shawn has been able to work in every major U.S. market, as well as, internationally in London and Cape Town, South Africa.

Shawn's career first started during his college years after injuring his neck playing basketball. Since sports had been a driving force in his life to that point, he wasn't sure what else he would enjoy doing. After flipping through a sports magazine he came across a Nike basketball ad, and figured maybe he could do that for a living (shoot sports ads, commercials, and movies). From there, his transition into the entertainment and modeling world began. To say it was a rocky road would be an understatement. He would spend the next two years traveling to every major modeling market only to be turned away by all the top agencies, and even some of the bad ones, from New York, Chicago, Boston, Miami, and a few other cities in between.

After graduating from college Shawn spent the summer in Washington D.C. living with his parents, and working as a furniture mover to save money to make the move to Los Angeles. By the end of the summer all he had to show for his efforts was a couple hundred dollars. Still set on the move to Los Angeles, he loaded up his car, and made the cross-country drive.

Shawn spent his first year in Los Angeles working as a TV and film extra on shows like Even Stevens, and Boston Public, along with hitting the pavement to meet with modeling and talent agencies whenever he could. To save money he ate hot dogs and noodles while sharing a studio apartment with two roommates.

After getting hit left and right by scam artists, Shawn found ModelScouts.com. Having nothing else to lose, he sent in his pictures, and shortly after he received a response saying there was some interest from a few agencies, and that he should also consider taking more pictures, and meeting a few more agencies.

Shawn followed their directions. and with the help and guidance from ModelScouts.com, he shot with a Los Angeles photographer who finally gave him the photos he needed to catch the eye of the agencies. This time both Next Models and Click Models wanted to represent him. Shawn chose Click Models and a week later he booked his first professional job shooting for Glamour Magazine.
